During his lifetime Luis was a man of curiosity and and involvement. He was very concerned with social justice and politics. His naturalization as an american citizen was very important and valued, he always felt that with freedom comes the responsibility to arm yourself with knowledge and to involve yourself in the betterment of your society. In 1982, the owner of The Las Vegas Sun, Hank Greenspun came to Luis to ask him to be editor of a page called La Voz Hispana. Luis along with other spanish speaking collaborators became the voice of the newly formed and growing latin community. Soon Luis became involved and co-created many of the longest lasting latin community organizations in Las Vegas such as ULA, Unidad Latinoamericana, NALA, Nevada Association of LatinAmericans. Luis also created the very first local bilingual newspaper entitled 'Nevadan News' which he put together on a self-built computer at home. Luis loved technology and new ideas and advanced himself by reading and implementing many new ideas and technologies.
